After panicky news stories broke about an apocalyptic, viral pandemic bug in China, the internet reacted in its usual calm and considered way by spreading a viral meme called "Corona Chan."
The name of the meme comes from the name of the bug, the Corona Virus, mixed with the Chan suffix, which denotes a cute anime girl. It is similar in many respects to "Ebola Chan," a similar meme outbreak that helped defuse needless panic some years ago during a serious outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus.
