BIG TECH "CELEBRATES" PASTOR BRUNSON'S RELEASE FROM TURKISH JAIL BY DROPPING HIM IN TWITTER GULAG

It seems that Twitter does not approve of Christian ministers being released from Turkish jails.

Following the success of the Trump administration in gaining the release of Pastor Andrew Brunson, Twitter has responded by suspending the Pastor's account (@BrunsonPastor).

Brunson is an Evangelical Presbyterian minister who was arrested in Turkey in 2016 in the aftermath of an unsuccessful coup attempt against President Erdogan. It is thought that he was detained on false charges as a bargaining chip to obtain the extradition from the United States of Fethullah Gülen, an Islamic preacher accused of supporting a coup.

Although Brunson has been released, Gülen has not been extradited.

It is not clear yet on what grounds Twitter decided to ban Pastor Brunson. Basically, as things stand at the moment, they don't even need grounds.

As Brunson is a man of God, Twitter could no doubt find some supposedly "homophobic" Bible verse that he might have tweeted to justify their act of blatant censorship, or they may just have decided they didn't need an excuse as Pastor Brunson's release would help mobilise the Evangelical vote in support of Trump in next month's elections.

Either way, such toxic censorship is yet more proof that Big Tech is now completely out of control and behaving in a way that is not only economically criminal but also an immediate threat to our democracy.

In fact, this is such a big problem that Trump's main priority should not be the Wall -- not that it is -- but instead should be reining in social media giants like Twitter, Facebook, and Google, in order to provide a level playing field for the free expression of ideas and debate.
