TRUMP TO FIGHT MIDTERMS UNDER GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN TO HIGHLIGHT IMMIGRATION CHAOS

Donald Trump has indicated that he is planning to fight the November Mid-Term Elections with a government shutdown in place.

In a tweet on Sunday (July 29th), the President wrote:

“I would be willing to ‘shut down’ government if the Democrats do not give us the votes for Border Security, which includes the Wall! Must get rid of Lottery, Catch & Release etc. and finally go to system of Immigration based on MERIT!"

This is consistent with many other statements by Trump, who has repeatedly blamed his failure to deliver on his election promises on Democratic lawmakers refusing to implement common-sense immigration laws.

Trump routinely criticises America's frankly absurd immigration laws -- catch and release, citizenship lottery, etc. -- and believes that most voters agree with him strongly on this.

A government shut-down would be triggered by a refusal to agree a budget deal with the Democrats.

Despite having majorities in the Senate and Congress, the Republican Party still need Democrat agreement to push through a budget deal, because the Republican majority is too narrow to do this unilaterally. This means that Democrats retain a lot of bargaining power.

By pushing immigration policy to the forefront and making this the reason for a shutdown, Trump would be hoping the voters would punish the Dems at the polls, and give pro-Trump Republicans a much bigger say in Congress and the Senate.

If no deal is done, this will become apparent on October 1st,  the first day of the new budget year, when most government functions would lapse. This would then see a period of slightly over a month of government shutdowns connected to America's dysfunctional immigration laws dominating the headlines.

Just raising this possibility should be enough to intimidate Democratic lawmakers and persuade them to cuck on their Leftist "open borders" approach, and get them to finally agree substantial funding for Trump's Wall as well as progress on other common-sense immigration ideas.

But really, let's hope they don't, as what America really needs now is an electoral bloodbath to push it sharply to the right.
