CHINLESS WONDER McCONNELL ALREADY LOOKING TO WORK WITH BIDEN
One of the surprising things about the political stand-off between President Trump and a corrupt Democratic Party machine that is clearly engaged in massive voter fraud is the muted response of Trump's own party. It's like they don't really mind.
While grassroots Republicans are right behind Trump, the more calculating and self-serving people higher up in the Party, like Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, have been extremely muted in their criticisms of Democratic skulduggery.
According to Donald Trump Jr., this group of passives includes many of those hoping to succeed Trump as GOP Presidential candidate:
But McConnell is not just failing to back the President and attack the Dems for their blatant corruption. He is also exchanging all sorts of nods and whispers, and looking forward to working with a Biden administration.
According to Axios:
A source close to McConnell tells Axios a Republican Senate would work with Biden on centrist nominees but no "radical progressives" or ones who are controversial with conservatives.
The Axios story tries to frame this as Republicans being "obstructive" to a pre-ordained Biden administration:
The Biden agenda would be severely restricted by GOP control, the source added: "It's going to be armed camps." The state of play: The process is in its early stages as Biden officials await final numbers on the size of the majority, and any potential signals from McConnell about whether he'll fight every nominee or focus on one or two examples. Traditionally, an incoming president is given wide berth to pick his desired team.
But this framing misses the real point. What this story reveals is that McConnell is already engaged in dirty cross-bench chatter while President Trump is still engaged in the fight of his political life and need the full support of his party to win.
McConnell is making deals behind Trump's back, into which he appears to have stuck the proverbial knife.
