CURSE OF NIKE STRIKES: SERENA WILLIAMS HUMILIATED IN U.S. OPEN FINAL BY ADIDAS PLAYER

Broke: Nike
Just days after a new, socially divisive Nike ad campaign absurdly hyped her as "the greatest athlete of all time," female tennis player Serena Williams has been crushed in the final of the U.S. Open by a comparative unknown player, Naomi Osaka, representing a rival brand, LOL.

In fact, so-called "tennis legend" Williams, who is supposed to be on the comeback trail, following the birth of a mixed-race daughter last September, didn't even put up much of a fight, getting creamed in straight sets 6-2, 6-4, by Osaka, a half-Japanese, half-Haitian player, and who is sponsored by Nike's competitor Adidas

Williams, one of the stars of Nike's new campaign along with washed-up quarterback Colin Kaepernick and basketball player LeBron James, mainly distinguished herself in the match by her histrionics, throwing a childish tantrum when caught cheating by the umpire, and then smashing her flimsy and badly-made Nike tennis racket against the tennis court.

With the much-derided slogan "Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything," the Nike ad says of Williams:

"If you're a girl from Compton, don't just become a tennis player, become the greatest athlete ever. (sic) Yeh, that's more like it!"

Although Williams is one of the top female players of the modern game, Nike's decision to front-end her in their big campaign with a washed-up quarterback just because she is Black and not signed up to Adidas looks increasingly like a mistake.

At 36 she it is highly likely that she will be hitting the skids soon, leaving only LeBron James as the only one of the three main athletes featured in the campaign active at the top level.

That is unless the "Curse of Nike" also decides to strike him down.

Woke: Adidas
