TECH WARS: TORBA ACCUSES TRUMP AND RUMBLE OF TRYING TO TAKE DOWN GAB
Andrew Torba (above), the CEO of "intermittently free speech" social media site GAB, has accused former President Donald Trump and video-sharing platform Rumble of trying to take down his site.
In a "Tweet" on Gab, Torba implied that Trump and Rumble may have been behind attacks on his site by porn and spam bots:
The reason for this would be to remove the biggest "free speech" platform competitor, as Turmp and Rumble move to launch their own "free-speech" social media site called "Truth Social," which advertises itself as:
Truth Social is America’s “Big Tent” social media platform that encourages an open, free, and honest global conversation without discriminating against political ideology.
This truthy tech war is getting a bit like the 1980s film Highlander...
Personally, I'm rooting for Truth Social as Torba has blocked Trad News links in the past, and right now any attempt to post stories, like this one, on Gab gets this message:
Torba's commitment to free speech is only skin deep.
