DANES END UP PAYING DANEGELD TO GET RID OF MIGRANTS
In the Dark Ages the Christian states of Europe were so terrified of Danish vikings that they literally paid them "Danegeld" (Danish gold) to make them simply go away.
Now things have gone full circle, with the Danes now paying a fortune to send fake refugees and economic migrants on their way.
As reported by Sputnik:
For the first time in a decade, the number of people with refugee backgrounds leaving Denmark is higher than the number of new arrivals, the country's Integration Ministry reported.
Last year, 1,520 asylum seekers arrived in Denmark. At the same time, 2,250 immigrants with refugee backgrounds emigrated or repatriated back to their home countries, leaving the country with a negative net value of 730. By contrast, in 2015, net immigration to Denmark totalled 16,000.
Guess, what -- they're not going back because they are homesick. They are returning because they are being paid vast amounts of money in order to do so.
Part of the credit goes to the new repatriation act, which came into force in Denmark last year. The purpose of the law is to make it possible for immigrants to leave the country voluntarily. Apart from covering travel expenses, the Danish state pays DKK 140,000 ($20,300) per adult and DKK 42,000 ($6,100) per child for each asylum immigrant returning to their home country. To make it more attractive to return, Denmark also offers help with schooling and medicine.
“Many Syrians have travelled home voluntarily, and many of them with a bag of money in hand from the Danish state. Hopefully, it can help them establish themselves in their home country and help rebuild it after the civil war,” [Integration Minister Mattias] Tesfaye said.
Denmark has been trying to tighten its immigration policy, but Integration Minister Tesfaye is himself of Ethiopian background as well as a former member of the now-defunct Marxist-Leninist Communist Party, the Red-Green Alliance and the Socialist People's Party.
While the scheme seems to be having positive short-term results, one has to wonder what will happen when news gets around that simply getting across the Danish border will land you a paycheck of over $20,000. For clues, check out how the Danish vikings reacted to being paid a fortune in gold every time they showed up.
