ISRAEL USES AIRBORNE "HUMAN SHIELDS" TO BOMB SYRIA (AGAIN)

Israeli jets craftily used a civilian airliner as cover.
In its desperate attempt to maintain its precarious existence in a region that is fundamentally opposed to its very existence, the state of Israel is sometimes forced to ignore the normal rules of morality. That must be tough and hurt sometimes.

For example, Israel dearly wishes to keep bombing facilities in Syria, due to the constant build up of the "Shiite Corridor" that funnels arms and military expertise from Iran to Hezbollah forces in neighbouring Lebanon. However, Syria, thanks to its Russian ally, has ever-improving air defences.

This means that it is becoming increasingly difficult and even dangerous for Israeli pilots to bomb Syria. Because of this Israel now times its attacks to coincide with the arrival of civilian airliners, effectively using these airliners as "human shields" for its illegal bombing campaign.

In the latest case four Israeli F-16s launched 8 missiles from just outside Syrian airspace into Syria just when an Airbus A320 with 172 passengers on board was preparing to land at Damascus International Airport. This caused much confusion, with Syrian air defences locking onto the civilian aircraft. Luckily no one pushed the button and the plane was diverted to make an emergency landing at Khmeimim air base in North Western Syria.

As reported by Russia Today:

Israeli strikes on Damascus suburbs put a civilian aircraft in serious danger and forced it to divert to Russia’s Khmeimim airbase as the Syrian air defense was activated to repel the attack, the Russian military said.

An Airbus A320 flying from Tehran to the Syrian capital was forced to make an emergency landing following an Israeli missile attack, the Russian Defense Ministry said. It added that using civilian aircraft as a “shield” is “commonplace” for Israeli Air Force pilots.

The aircraft was about to land at Damascus International Airport, but was unable do so as the Syrian air defense systems engaged the hostile targets. The jet could have found itself in the crossfire if it weren’t for the Damascus air traffic control, whose “timely actions” averted a possible disaster.

The flight was Cham Wing Airlines flight 6Q514 / SAW514, flying from Najaf, Iraq. Cham Wing is a privately owned Syrian airline.

The Russian defense ministry, which is overseeing Syria's air defences, strongly condemned Israel's actions:

Tel Aviv is perfectly aware of civilian flight routes and air activity around Damascus, day and night, and such reckless missions prove that Israeli strategists could not care less about possible civilian casualties, Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said.

It is feared that actions like this could recreate the disaster that struck an Iranian airline last month, which was shot down by Iranian air defences fearing an attack from the United States. That resulted all 176 flight crew and passengers dying, including many citizens from Western countries.

It is not known if the 8 Israeli missiles were successful in striking their targets.
