In the latest weird twist to the long-running Syrian Civil War, the besieged, rebel-held pocket of Ghouta is now starting to resemble a giant erect penis.
This comes after weeks of intense fighting and advances by the forces of President Bashar Al-Assad that have "sculpted" the zone of rebel territory into a couple of "ball-like" enclaves, surmounted by a "longish shaft" of territory, divided by a thin line of Syrian-government-held territory to create the distinctive "glans" or rounded head feature of the iconic penis.
Is this a case of Pareidolia, the psychological phenomenon in which the mind perceives a familiar pattern where none exists, such as in the famous case of the Face on Mars or the mysterious "ISIS Spurdo" that appeared in the Eastern desert of Syria last year? Or is it a supernatural omen that the Syrian War is about to reach a climax or "messy finish," that will require quite a lot of mopping up?
Only the events of the next few weeks will tell.
