3-YEAR ISIS SIEGE OF DEIR EZ-ZOR BROKEN

The big push to break the ISIS siege of Deir Ez-Zor, the Syrian government's bastion in the ISIS-dominated East of the country, has finally achieved success, with relieving forces and the garrison finally linking up.

Just a few hours ago, armoured vehicles poured into Deir Ez-Zor to reinforce the besieged units that have bravely maintained their position for years against the equally heroic -- but EVIL -- fighters of ISIS, who are now being pushed back.

....OK, time out... I really don't care which bunch of Muzzies win, to be honest, as long as somebody does and the country can return to some semblance of order and stability that will allow Europe to start sending back the migrants who flooded into it using this war (and a dead baby on a Greek beach) as a flimsy excuse.

Right now that force is clearly President Basher al-Assad and his various allies, so all power to them!

Also, let's not forget the bigger picture. A big part of the victory of Deir Ez-Zor belongs to the Russians who have not only been bombing the shit out of ISIS with jets and helicopters but also launching cruise missiles from Russian ships in the Mediterranean, not to mention deploying Russian fighters on the ground, including some who died in battle.

This means that Syria will effectively be a Russian colony or client state, backing up Russia's push to create a more geopolitically savvy cartel of oil producers. This could be a good thing, but I'm pretty sure Israel must be worried.

Also, someone else who should be worried is Venezuela. With Russia and its oil cartel ascendant in the Middle East, the US has to think about its control of other oil assets. Knocking over the Maduro regime and installing a pro-Washington government looks like an increasingly necessary move now for a petrodollar power like the USA.
